(A Tale of Shared Passions and Silent Joys)

The Unspoken Happiness

Have you ever felt that pure, inexplicable joy when you connect with someone over a shared passion? Whether it’s dramas, books, games, or anime, the sense of alignment feels like stepping into a sunlit garden after a long winter. The emotions it stirs in me are vivid yet difficult to describe—like a flower blooming within my chest, filling every corner of my being with warmth.

This story isn’t just about my love for anime; it’s about the journey of finding others who share that love. It begins when I was only eight years old—a curious child with a fascination that would shape much of my life.

Discovering a World Unnamed

At that age, I didn’t even know the word anime. To me, they were just cartoons. But they weren’t like the usual shows I saw. While I enjoyed Phineas and Ferb or Ben 10, there was something magical about Pokemon, Doraemon, and Dragon Ball. These weren’t just stories—they were entire worlds that pulled me in.

I didn’t just watch Pokemon; I lived it. At first, I watched it dubbed in Hindi, then in English, and finally, in Japanese. The Japanese language captivated me in ways I couldn’t explain. Even though I relied on subtitles, the rhythm, emotion, and beauty of the words left me spellbound.

A Lonely Fascination

Back then, I didn’t have anyone to share this love with. Most of my friends watched movies or shows in Hindi or English, and anime wasn’t part of their world. I longed for someone to talk to about how enchanting anime was, but that someone didn’t exist—not yet.

Two years later, everything changed.

The First Connection

I was ten when I met a classmate who also loved Pokemon. He was the first person I could talk to about my passion, and it felt like spring had arrived in my heart. We would talk endlessly, sharing our favorite episodes, favorite characters, and even imaginary battles.

I didn’t understand it at the time, but those moments gave me a kind of happiness I’d never known. I couldn’t stop smiling. I don’t know why, but I loved it.

New Places, Familiar Joy

Three years later, I had to move to a new city and start at a new school. I was nervous, unsure if I’d ever find anyone like my old friend. But to my surprise, my new classmates also loved Pokemon.

It wasn’t just Pokemon this time; they introduced me to other incredible anime. Naruto, Bleach, One Piece—each series opened a new door to a vibrant world. I became captivated not just by anime but also by Japanese culture, music, and traditions.

Some people called it childish. “Grow up,” they said. “Stop watching cartoons.” At first, I tried explaining: “It’s not cartoons—it’s anime.” But eventually, I stopped correcting them. Let them call it what they wanted. Anime made me happy, and that was all that mattered.

A Growing Community

By high school, anime was gaining popularity in my country. I found even more friends who shared my passion. Together, we explored new series, traded recommendations, and even attended cosplay events. It felt like being part of a secret club that suddenly wasn’t so secret anymore.

Then came college, and my world expanded even further. There were so many anime fans, each with unique tastes and stories to share. We discussed everything—anime, manga, movies, even manhwa. It wasn’t just about watching anymore; it was about connecting, growing, and sharing pieces of ourselves.

The Simple Joy of Sharing

Recommending anime became one of my favorite things to do. Watching someone experience their first anime and fall in love with the medium brought me immense satisfaction.

If you’ve never tried anime, I urge you to give it a chance. Start with something accessible—perhaps Death Note for its gripping story, Your Name for its breathtaking romance, or A Silent Voice for its heartfelt narrative. If none of these resonate with you, that’s okay. At least you tried.

For me, one anime stands above the rest: Violet Evergarden. Its beauty, depth, and emotional resonance remind me why I fell in love with this art form in the first place.

Why I Love It

Even now, when I find someone who shares my passion, it feels like a celebration. It’s not just about anime; it’s about the connection, the shared excitement, the unspoken understanding.

When I talk to others who love the same things I do, I can’t help but smile. I don’t know why, but I love it.
